The Carestream CS 9300 Select is the versatile core of Carestream's dental imaging family — a single chassis that delivers 5 × 5, 8 × 8, 10 × 5 and 10 × 10 cm volumes, full panoramic, and cephalometric imaging from a Kodak-heritage American platform. One room, three modalities, every FOV you need for general implant, ortho, endo and oral surgery work.
Every CBCT decision is really a FOV decision. Small field = higher resolution and lower dose but smaller scope; large field = broader view but coarser voxels. The CS 9300 Select lets you make that choice per-patient instead of per-machine — four calibrated volumes, 90 to 500 μm voxels, selected from the same console.
The ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) isn't a catchphrase — it's the operating logic of CBCT. A 10 × 10 cm volume carries substantially more dose than a 5 × 5 cm one; using the larger FOV when the clinical question is localised wastes dose and contrast. The CS 9300 Select's four-step catalogue makes that discipline enforceable at the console, not just aspirational on a poster.
| FOV | Min voxel | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| 5 × 5 | 90 μm | Endo resolution |
| 8 × 8 | ~180 μm | Surgical planning |
| 10 × 5 | ~180–200 μm | Arch planning |
| 10 × 10 | ~200–300 μm | Full dentition |
Two imaging arms, three modalities, one patient positioning system. The cone-beam/panoramic head and the cephalometric arm share the same column and generator — so one room, one install, one calibration cycle replaces what most practices still split across two or three machines.
TFT flat-panel sensor, continuous and pulse scan modes, 12–28 second acquisitions across four selectable fields of view. Reconstructions complete in under two minutes on the recommended workstation.
Adaptive panoramic programs for adult and pediatric patients, including segmented pano for localised regions, maxillary sinus views, and double- or quadruple-projection TMJ surveys.
CCD scanning cephalostat on a dedicated arm. Five clinical projections from lateral to carpus and five film-size formats up to 30 × 30 cm — full-skull orthodontic capability out of the box.
We stock both the CS 9000 3D and the CS 9300 Select, and we can source the full CS 9300 on request. Here's an honest, side-by-side look at where each sits — so you buy the one that matches your work, not the one with the most impressive datasheet.
Simple rule of thumb: if every one of your CBCT cases would fit inside a 5 × 3.7 cm window, buy the CS 9000 3D and enjoy the 76 μm voxel and One-Shot ceph. If your cases are general-practice mixed and some of them need a quadrant or both arches, buy the CS 9300 Select — this page. If you routinely image skull-base, airway, or TMJ sweeps beyond the dentition, you want the full CS 9300 and we can source one for you.
See the CS 9000 3D page → for the specialist option, or message us about the full CS 9300.
The CS 9300 Select's value proposition is precisely the general practice: a single system that handles six common workflows without compromise. Here's how each FOV maps to the clinical reality.
Multi-site edentulous or partially-edentulous cases where you need to see both arches, the antagonist dentition, and anatomical landmarks (IAN, sinus floor, incisive canal) in a single volume for guided-surgery export.
Full-arch volume for impacted teeth, skeletal assessment, and asymmetry, paired with a 24×30 or 30×30 cm lateral cephalogram for standard orthodontic tracing workflows.
Surgical planning for impacted third molars, supernumerary teeth, cysts and benign lesions — the 8 × 8 FOV gives localised context without committing to full-arch dose.
Complex root canal morphology, peri-apical pathology, resorption assessment and vertical root fractures at 90 μm voxel — the highest resolution this system offers, matched to a target-sized volume.
A complete maxillary or mandibular arch captured in one volume without the vertical extent of full-arch scans — ideal for 2-to-4 site implant cases contained within one jaw.
Screening panoramic as the first-line exam, with 3D follow-up on flagged regions using 8 × 8 or 5 × 5 — the workflow most dental practices actually run, without bouncing patients between machines.
These are photos of the CS 9300 Select currently in our Shanghai facility — not stock renderings. Every system is bench-tested before shipment; photos and tube-hour records can be shared on request.
The system ships with CS 3D Imaging, Carestream's own viewing, reformatting and export suite — handling panoramic, cephalometric and CBCT volumes in a single application with full DICOM 3.0 output.
For third-party implant planning, any supported DICOM-compliant tool opens the volumes natively — including coDiagnostiX, SimPlant, Blue Sky Plan, 3Shape Implant Studio, Anatomage InVivo, and Invivo5.

Each unit retains its original OEM regulatory labelling and IEC compliance markings — ionising-radiation warnings, laser-class positioning-beam labels (IEC 60825 class 2, 650 nm, ≤ 1 mW), and tube-head certification. We supply the original operator manual and service documentation where available, and can verify IEC 60601 medical-electrical compliance markings on the unit before shipment.
Carestream Dental is the direct corporate successor to Eastman Kodak's Health Imaging division — spun out in 2007, headquartered in Atlanta since, and still carrying the imaging research DNA that shaped medical radiography for most of the 20th century.
That's not a marketing story — it's why parts availability, service documentation, and global dealer coverage remain strong for a platform first released in the early 2010s. You're not buying into an orphaned brand; you're buying a long-lifecycle Western OEM still actively selling the platform today.
Every system we ship goes through the same five-stage protocol. No pre-owned unit leaves our facility without completing the full sequence — whether it's a CS 9300 Select, a Papaya 3D Plus, or any other platform in the catalogue.
Incoming unit is documented (photos, serial, tube-hour count), functional testing performed on all three modalities, structural assessment of chassis and movement mechanisms.
Disassembly to subsystem level, full clean of the detector, sensor check, cable harness inspection, replacement of consumables (bite blocks, chin rests, temple stabilizers).
Geometric calibration using OEM phantoms, dose verification across all four FOVs, panoramic layer-shell calibration, cephalometric magnification check.
Complete test suite on Alderson / Quart phantoms: 5×5, 8×8, 10×5, 10×10 volumes, panoramic, ceph lateral & AP, exported as DICOM for customer review.
Unit wrapped, crated in plywood export crate (fumigation-certified for ISPM 15), loaded FOB Shanghai with full documentation pack: commercial invoice, packing list, CE docs, calibration certificate.
They share the same chassis, tube, generator, and sensor hardware. The difference is strictly in the 3D field-of-view catalogue:
For practices that don't routinely image beyond the dentition, the Select version delivers the same image quality at materially lower cost. Some units are firmware-upgradable, but we don't promise upgrade paths — treat the Select as a Select.
Two very different tools that share the Carestream name. Pick by caseload:
If you genuinely need skull-base and airway imaging (sleep dentistry, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial), neither fits — you want the full CS 9300; we can source one.
Both are 3-in-1 systems in the $22–38 K range, but they come from different design philosophies:
Buy Carestream for heritage brand, Kodak-lineage parts availability, and the cleaner CS 3D Imaging workflow. Buy Papaya for more FOV granularity and dedicated per-modality sensors. Both are good systems; the choice comes down to brand preference and how much you value FOV granularity vs. ecosystem stability.
The cephalometric arm is a factory-option module. We currently stock both configurations — with and without ceph. Weight-wise the 3-in-1 unit is 199 kg vs 160 kg for the pan+3D-only variant, and the footprint extends from 1158 mm to 2137 mm in length with the ceph arm installed. Please specify on enquiry; pricing is $22–28 K for the no-ceph variant and $28–38 K for the full 3-in-1.
The CS 9300 Select reconstructs in under 2 minutes on Carestream's recommended PC configuration — roughly equivalent to a modern workstation with:
We can supply a pre-configured acquisition PC on request, or help spec one to local procurement — confirm at time of quote.
Yes — Carestream Dental maintains a global dealer network and the CS 9300 family remains in their active sales and service portfolio. Direct service contracts with Carestream are typically available in North America, Europe, the Gulf, Southeast Asia and Latin America. In markets without direct Carestream presence, third-party service technicians familiar with the platform are common because of the large global installed base. We'll point you to the nearest support channel as part of delivery.
Every shipment includes:
Warranty: 3-month limited hardware warranty on tube, generator and detector (extendable to 6 or 12 months on request). Installation and training videos/support provided remotely.
Not included: site preparation, electrical installation, radiation shielding, local import duties or VAT, customs clearance, inland haulage from destination port.
Yes, as a matter of course. Every unit gets a final test run on all four FOVs, a panoramic, and a cephalometric (if the ceph module is included). We send the resulting DICOM files — along with full unit photos and the tube-hour report — by cloud link for your review before you approve the shipment.
Under FOB Shanghai, we deliver the crated unit to the vessel at the Port of Shanghai; from that point, ocean freight, insurance and destination handling are your responsibility (you or your freight forwarder). Typical routes:
We can quote CIF terms as an alternative if you'd prefer we handle ocean freight and insurance — just ask.
We run on WhatsApp and email — no forms, no lead-gen funnels. Messages hit our sales team directly and we respond within one working day.
